How to Access and Submit a Scholarship Appeal

  1. Go to StudentForms
    1. If you have not set up your StudentForms account, you may need to do so. See our StudentForms Account webpage for instructions. For students who have not submitted a FAFSA or do not have a Social Security number on file with WVU and are creating an account for Scholarship Exception Request purposes, the student's WVU ID number can be used in place of their Social Security number.
  2. After you have logged into your StudentForms account, click on the "Manage Requests" button near the top of the page
  3. To add the correct type of Scholarship Exception Request, click the + (plus) sign to add the request for the appropriate aid year. Example: 2024-2025 is for fall 2024 and spring and summer 2025.
    1. Select the “Part-Time Scholarship Appeal Request” for exception to the full-time enrollment requirement.
    2. Select the “Scholarship Appeal or Deferment Request” for all other scholarship exception requests.
  4. The system will ask you to briefly explain your reason for this request. This does not need to be in-depth. You will provide more information as part of the appeal later in the process.
  5. Once you have added the appeal, a button for Other Documents for the request should be listed on your account
  6. Click on that button to show related tasks, which should list the scholarship request you chose
  7. Click on the task/request to expand it to show more information
  8. This should show the option to download the form
  9. Once you have completed the form, upload it and any applicable supporting third-party documentation back on your Scholarship Request task via the "Upload" button
  10. Once done, click the Submit button to submit your appeal
    1. Be sure to complete the form entirely (including signatures and initials). Appeals will not be reviewed until all portions of the form are completed.
  11. Once all requested documentation is submitted, you will receive a notification via your MIX email of the outcome of the review within three to five business days. Please note this time may be extended during peak processing times.
