WVU Medicine Employee Dependent Tuition Benefit

To support employees and their dependent children, WVU Medicine is providing a dependent tuition assistance program effective August 1, 2018. For information on eligibility, deadlines, maximum benefits, and program guidelines, the WVU Medicine employee must contact WVU Medicine Human Resources at wvumhelp.cherwellondemand.com. Below is an explanation of the awarding process.

  • Apply through WVU Medicine - WVU Medicine employees must apply for their student/dependent through WVU Medicine before the established deadline for the semester.
  • WVU Medicine Reviews Applicants After Deadline
  • WVU Receives & Reviews List of Eligible Applicants From WVU Medicine
  • Eligible Students Have Benefit Posted To Their Student Account

Below are examples of different resident and non-resident student scenarios and the corresponding WVU Medicine tuition benefit amount. Example amounts are used to represent university tuition, University fees, and college tuition. Actual tuition and fee rates can be found at tuition.wvu.edu.

Please note that there are many scenarios where there are enough scholarships, grants, or other tuition support to reduce the benefit payable to the student to $0, even if the student is eligible. The WVU Medicine Employee Benefit may cover university tuition only so students may still owe a balance for other charges.

If no benefit appears on your student account, please review any email communications from WVU Medicine and/or WVU. Possible reasons include student’s academic ineligibility or student’s grants, scholarships and other tuition support exceed the maximum benefit of university tuition. In instances where the student is eligible but their university tuition is already covered by other scholarships and grants, the employee may be eligible for a minimum benefit. This minimum benefit is paid to the employee by WVU Medicine, and the employee should contact WVU Medicine Human Resources for more information.

Students receiving the WVU Dependent Education Scholarship are not eligible for the WVU Medicine Employee Dependent Tuition Benefit. If a student has a parent employed at WVU Medicine and a parent employed at WVU, the employee/student should apply for the program that is most beneficial to them. The Mountaineer Hub cannot advise which program may be most beneficial for a family, as there are many unique factors to consider (work commitments for the employee, tax implications, etc.).
