WVU System Connection Scholarship
The WVU System Connection Scholarship is a first-come, first-served limited funds program that may be offered to some eligible degree-seeking undergraduate students.
Current scholarship information pertains to incoming freshmen and first-time transfer for fall 2025 and is not retroactive to previous classes or currently enrolled students. Students entering WVU prior to the fall 2025 semester may have been offered different scholarships. Future students may also have different criteria.
How to Apply
Students who meet the eligibility criteria will be reviewed automatically based on their WVU admission and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) information.
Eligibility & Value
Only available for first-time freshmen and first-time transfer undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's, graduate, or professional degree.
For consideration, students must:
- Be admitted to a degree-seeking program as a first-time freshman or first-time transfer student for the upcoming academic year
- Submit a valid
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the appropriate aid
year and have a
Student Aid Index (SAI) available from their FAFSA
- Students must have a valid FAFSA on file with an eligible Student Aid Index (SAI). Having a valid FAFSA can be impacted if the student's FAFSA needs corrections, is missing high school information, or they need to submit additional documentation. Students are notified through their MIX email (via WVU Portal) in these circumstances.
The WVU System Connection Scholarship is offered based on a combination of financial need and academic merit. Non-resident students initially offered this scholarship who will be charged in-state tuition rates through programs such as Ohio Tuition Reciprocity or Veteran status (or who change to in-state tuition rates through any other program) will have their WVU System Connection Scholarship canceled.
Enrollment Requirements
Students must enroll full-time for the scholarship to disburse each fall and spring semester.
Renewal
The WVU System Connection Scholarship is for up to eight undergraduate semesters, or completion of a bachelor's degree - whichever comes first as long as renewal criteria are met. Financial aid for each aid year also cannot exceed a student's cost of attendance.
Please note not all Connection Scholarships/Grants are renewable from one academic year to the next. Some offers were made as one-time only, nonrenewable aid. Some are renewable for up to eight undergraduate semesters, or completion of a bachelor's degree - whichever comes first.
