Fall 2023 and Spring 2024

Once you are admitted, closely monitor your MIX email via your WVU Portal. It is the primary mode of communication. Pay particularly close attention to emails from the WVU Hub because they usually pertain to important topics like financial aid and billing.

October 2022

  • October 1: Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) via the Federal Student Aid FAFSA webpage. To receive the best financial aid offer available to you, complete your FAFSA by the March 1, 2023 priority deadline. If you are interested in any state or private aid programs, check with the agency for application and deadline information.
    • Although the priority deadline is March 1, the sooner you submit your FAFSA, the better! Sometimes additional information or documents are needed, so you want to have as much time as possible to take care of everything.
  • October 1: First-time freshmen who are West Virginia residents can submit the Promise Scholarship application. Additional information can be found on the West Virginia Promise Scholarship webpage.
  • October 3: Housing applications become available for living on campus. You must pay your academic deposit before you can apply for housing.
  • October 3: Room selection begins.
  • First-time freshmen should schedule ACT and/or SAT tests so scores can be received as early as possible. The goal is to ensure the most up-to-date test information is available on your WVU student record for scholarship consideration deadlines.
  • Begin to monitor your Financial Aid Information and your MIX email via your WVU Portal for unsatisfied requirements which could prevent your financial aid offer.
