Pharmacy Scholarship Opportunities
The following scholarships are available through the WVU School of Pharmacy for students currently enrolled in the PharmD program. Pre-Pharmacy students are not eligible for these scholarships.
Once full-time coursework begins in the School of Pharmacy, scholarship application information will be provided. Based on the availability of funds each year, scholarships are offered annually to students who meet all of the selection criteria for a specific scholarship.
- Eligible students will receive a scholarship application at the end of the fall semester and must complete it by the deadline designated on the application. A single application is used to apply for all of the available scholarships.
- For scholarships based on financial need, a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be submitted. It is recommended that you submit your FAFSA as soon as possible since this data is needed to offer the scholarships.
THE ANIDO FAMILY PHARMACY SCHOLARSHIP
To provide scholarships to regularly enrolled pharmacy students that are in good academic standing, demonstrate financial need, and through the application process, are able to adequately answer the question, “What do I want to be when I grow up?” Preference shall be that the recipient is a “first-generation” college student. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria.
NANCY TEEMAN ANIDO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship will be offered to regularly enrolled pharmacy students whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer. Preference shall be for the students to be residents of the West Virginia Northern Panhandle counties of Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, or Marshall and to demonstrate good academic standing by maintaining a GPA of 3.0. In the absence of students from Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, or Marshall Counties, preference shall be given to students that are West Virginia residents. Recipients are eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria.
THE BERNABEI INDEPENDENT PHARMACY SCHOLARSHIP
Offered to deserving pharmacy students who are residents of West Virginia with first consideration given to those from Brooke or Hancock Counties.
THOMAS L. AND MARY M. BIERY SCHOOL OF PHARMACY SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship awards will be based on financial need and recipients shall meet the minimum academic standards required by the School of Pharmacy. First consideration will be given to students from the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia.
HON. LARRY BORDER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR WVU SCHOOL OF PHARMACY
Offered to third or fourth year students with preference to residents of Wood, Wirt, or Richie Counties in West Virginia. Preferences also given to students with dependent children, ability to overcome obstacles, financial need, and a strong work ethic.
THELMA M. BOYERS TRUST SCHOOL OF PHARMACY SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be used to provide financial assistance to School of Pharmacy students who are residents of the State of West Virginia.
CALVIN C. BRISTER MEMORIAL PHARMACY SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is offered to School of Pharmacy students who are in good academic standing.
TOM & BEN CARSON PHARMACY SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is to be offered to a West Virginia resident. The recipient shall demonstrate financial need and academic promise.
PAT & JIM CHASE PHARMACY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is offered to students in the School of Pharmacy that demonstrate academic promise and need.
CLASS OF 1972 SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is awarded to students in the School of Pharmacy with financial need and are in good academic standing.
THE CLUTTER-RHOADES SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship shall be given in preference to a student who is a parent.
ROGER S. COLE PHARMACY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship shall be offered to regularly enrolled pharmacy students in their P-3 or P-4 years, who are in good academic standing, demonstrate financial need, and who have an interest in independent or community pharmacy practice. Preference shall be for the students to be residents of the West Virginia northern panhandle counties of Hancock, Brooke, Ohio or Marshall. In the absence of students from Hancock, Brooke, Ohio or Marshall Counties, preference shall be given to students that are West Virginia residents. Offered for meritorious achievement, which may include leadership to the school, university, or profession of pharmacy.
ANN DINARDI SCHOLARSHIP
Offered to pharmacy students who demonstrate need for financial assistance.
DON E. EAGLEHOUSE RPH PHARMACY SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is available to a Pennsylvania resident who demonstrates financial need and academic promise. Recipients must have completed a portion of their pre-pharmacy studies at West Virginia University.

Offered to students demonstrating academic excellence and leadership in mentoring.

Offered to first or second year PharmD students that are, or have been, enrolled in the Honors Program, without geographical boundaries. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and academic achievement by maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Funds will be offered to pharmacy students in good academic standing.
HAROLD M. JOHNSTON SCHOOL OF PHARMACY SCHOLARSHIP
Offered to a pharmacy student who is a resident of Raleigh County in West Virginia. Must demonstrate academic promise and financial need. If there are no recipients available from Raleigh County, any student enrolled at the School of Pharmacy may receive the scholarship.
STEVEN C. JUDY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Offered to a qualifying pharmacy student in good academic standing. First preference will be given to a student who demonstrates an interest in rural and independent pharmacy. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they meet the selection criteria.
BRIAN E. LAWSON DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is offered to any (resident/non-resident) School of Pharmacy student who is maintaining satisfactory academic progress and has financial need. Preference will be given to underrepresented students and recipient will be eligible for consideration in other years.
LEADING CHANGE IN PHARMACY SCHOLARSHIP
Offered to regularly enrolled pharmacy students that are in good academic standing and who demonstrate innovative, initiative-driven leadership skills at the local, state, or national level and who have positively influenced the profession of pharmacy, as well as their communities.
DR. CARL J. MALANGA PHARMACY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship offered based on academic performance.
JAMES A. MAURO FAMILY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is available to students in the Doctor of Pharmacy program and graduates of a Marion County, West Virginia high school. Recipients must demonstrate academic promise and financial need.
THE KLINE MCMANN FAMILY PHARMACY SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is available to regularly enrolled pharmacy students that demonstrate financial need. First preference shall be to offer this scholarship to resident(s) of the city of Morgantown. In the absence of student(s) from the city of Morgantown, second preference shall be a resident of Monongalia County, and the third preference shall be any West Virginia resident student that meets the remaining selection criteria. A recipient one year is eligible for consideration in subsequent years provided they continue to meet selection criteria.
THE MILLER ADVOCACY SCHOLARSHIP
The Miller Advocacy Scholarship is offered to regularly enrolled pharmacy students that demonstrate academic achievement by maintaining a GPA of 3.2, without geographical barriers. Recipients shall also demonstrate strong leadership skills and an interest in advancing the profession of pharmacy through advocacy. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria.
THE ANGELO MONACO SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship offered with priority to students from southern West Virginia.
REBECCA SMITH MONTI MEMORIAL PHARMACY SCHOLARSHIP
Offered to students entering their fourth year of the professional program. First priority is given to students from McDowell County, West Virginia. Scholarship recipients shall demonstrate high academic promise and financial need.
LINDA ANNE NEWMAN PHARMACY SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship recipients must demonstrate financial need and high academic promise. First preference will be given to graduates of Robert C. Byrd High School, the successor school of Washington Irving High School. Should there be no qualified students from Robert C. Byrd High School, preference shall go to West Virginia residents who demonstrate the criteria stated above.
THE OHIO/MARSHALL COUNTY PHARMACISTS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
Funds to be used to offer a scholarship to a pharmacy student selected from the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia.
CORLEEN BARKER PATTERSON ENDOWED PHARMACY SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is offered to WV residents enrolled as a School of Pharmacy P3 or P4 professional student who is in good academic standing, demonstrates financial need, leadership ability or community service participation and has an interest in Hospital Pharmacy.

THE CHARLES D. PONTE ACADEMIC CLINICAL PHARMACY SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is offered to rising 4th year School of Pharmacy students who are in good academic standing, enrolled in the Advanced Clinical Practice or College Teaching in Pharmacy Areas of Emphasis program, and have an interest in pursuing post-graduate residency training and/or a strong desire to enter academia. Preference will be given to a first-generation college student.

Preference given to students demonstrating academic promise and financial need from the West Virginia counties of Berkeley, Jefferson, or Morgan.

Scholarship for a student based on academic achievement and financial need, with first preference given to students from Mercer, McDowell, Summers Counties in West Virginia and Tazewell County in Virginia.

Provides scholarships to students enrolled in pharmacy school to assist them in paying for tuition, books, laboratory fees, and living expenses.

Scholarship for both West Virginia resident and non-resident students who are enrolled in the PharmD/MBA program. Recipients shall maintain a GPA of 3.0.

THE ALBERT F. WOJCIK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Offered to students with high academic promise with preference given to residents of West Virginia and members of Lambda Kappa Sigma.
GEORGE W. ZUNDELL PHARMACY SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be used to provide financial assistance to School of Pharmacy students who are WV residents, in good academic standing and have financial need. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria.
Pharmacy (PHARMD) Loan Opportunities
HEALTH PROFESSIONS PHARMACY LOAN
The Health Professions Pharmacy Loan program, which is a source of financial assistance through the federal government, provides loan funds to participating institutions. The maximum annual offer is the cost of attendance (subject to fund availability). These loans are offered to students who: 1) are citizens or nationals of the United States; 2) are enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full time student; and 3) demonstrate financial need. The interest rate is 5% simple interest. Interest does not accrue during the in school or 12-month grace period immediately following graduation. A FAFSA must be filed by March 1. Parent information is required, regardless of dependency status.
THE NORMAN W. SMITH EDUCATIONAL LOAN TRUST
The purpose of the “Norman W. Smith Educational Loan Trust” is to provide loans to students of Berkeley County, WV who are pursuing a minimum of a B.S. degree in the field of ministry or medicine (including nursing, pharmacy, and dentistry). While priority will be given to Berkeley County, Morgan and Jefferson Counties can also be considered if resources permit. Loans are offered on a semester basis by a selection committee consisting of four residents of Berkeley County. Members are from the Berkeley County Medical Society, Berkeley County Board of Education, Berkeley County Ministerial Assoc., and Shepherd College. Completed applications must be received for the fall semester by April 15 and the spring semester by September 15.
